Nercon Dragonboat Team Wins Industry Division 2nd Year in a Row!

Nercon took home a 2nd straight win in the Industry Division at this year’s Dragonboat Race and Festival on Saturday September 21, 2013. This was Nercon’s second year participating in the event, and the team name, “No Wake, No Glory” lived up to its title, placing them  1st out of six industry teams, and 7th out of 40 community teams! The team consisted of 21 Nercon employees and their family, and the team captain this year was Mark Baumhardt.

The Dragonboat festival is a yearly event that is hosted by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and the YMCA of Oshkosh, and takes place at the Leach Amphitheater along the Fox River. This yearly event takes place to benefit the community and create awareness for the appreciation of our local waterways! Each team consists of at least 16 paddlers and one drummer who paddle and ride on a 40-foot long canoe-style boat and race 250 meters down a stretch of the Fox River.

The festival is an all-day event that is hosted on the Leach Amphitheater grounds in Oshkosh, WI. The races are hosted along with live entertainment, concession stands, and activities for all ages. Despite the usual cold weather that accompanies the races, everyone comes together for a day of fun and camaraderie.

Great job to everyone who participated and cheered on Nercon’s dragonboat! It was another successful year!
