Nercon is a full service engineering facility and a manufacturer of custom material handling and conveyor systems that services primarily Fortune 500 companies.

We are seeking an Application Proposal Specialist to join our team in our Neenah, WI corporate office.


SUMMARY:
The Application Proposal Specialist is responsible for proposal development of packaging and process conveyor systems and material handling equipment in accordance with customer and/or Nercon specifications.  In this entry-level position, the Application Proposal Specialist works closely with Customers, Nercon Sales Representatives, Nercon Mechanical and Electrical Designers, and other Nercon team members to prepare clear, complete, and accurate proposals.  The Application Proposal Specialist develops cost estimates, reviews pricing strategy with the department manager and/or Application Proposal Managers, and assists in the sales closure process of small-sized projects.  During the project lifecycle, the Application Proposal Specialist plays a vital role in managing change orders, upselling ancillary services, maintaining milestone schedules, facilitating customer inspections, and assisting in post-shipment services.  The Application Proposal Specialist shall be able to perform the duties and responsibilities with a medium level of supervision.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
1. Develop simple application solutions meeting the needs of the customer, with an emphasis on best value, safety, practicality, functionality, and standardization of components and equipment.
2. Interface with Manager of Application Proposal Group, Nercon Sales Representatives and the customer to verify project requirements.
3. Assist Electrical Designers and Installation Services Coordinator with development of their proposal segments.
4. Generate requests for, and evaluate bids from, outside vendors/suppliers for materials and subcontracted services.
5. Using AutoCAD or equivalent design tools, create simple proposal drawings (when applicable).
6. Prepare complete and accurate proposals in compliance with all applicable codes and customer supplied specifications, and/or Nercon specifications.
7. Prepare new order and change order paperwork.
8. Participate in project kick-off meetings with the Mechanical and Electrical Departments to analyze and define project requirements.
9. Interface with the key internal and external project team players to monitor and oversee the scope, budget, and timeline established, including project change orders.
10. Participate (as required) in the final inspection prior to shipment to customer.
11. Actively participate in department-related process improvement projects.
12. Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Strong mechanical aptitude
2. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers as well as multiple internal departments.
3. Ability to develop basic two-dimensional and three-dimensional mechanical layout designs using computer aided design tools, preferably AutoCAD version 2008 or higher and Inventor.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
5. Use appropriate problem-solving methods to identify, analyze, and solve problems in a sales and engineering environment.
6. Share knowledge with subordinates.
7. Ability to learn new concepts as well as utilize existing concepts to develop them into finished proposal solutions.
8. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, plant/equipment layout drawings, and governmental regulations.
9. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane geometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to financial and practical situations.
10. Function effectively and productively within a team-focused work group.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. 


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current driver's license with acceptable driving record as defined in Nercon Employee Handbook


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to maintain a Performance Assessment rating of “Successful” or greater
