Vertical Accumulator

Vertical Accumulator

The benefits of vertical accumulation are:

  • improved production efficiencies
  • minimal product damage
  • maintain product orientation

The vertical accumulator uses custom designed flights to handle the product. The accumulation time available is determined by the height of the unit, and a stop device is required to stop and ready the rows of product before indexing.

During normal operation on the dual flight, in-line model, the product passes through the accumulator. When a downstream malfunction occurs, the accumulator will index up rows of products until the accumulator is full or until downstream production resumes. At that time, the accumulator will reverse and deposit rows of product back onto the transportation conveyor.

Nercon's vertical accumulator is easy to maintain and provides a smooth and controlled product flow. To accommodate various package sizes, an optional sensor controlled by a selector switch is available to identify the correct product width adjustment.

On the Side Load model, pushers are utilized for the infeed and the discharge. Depending on the product and carrier design, it may be possible to use both sides of the accumulator for storage. Flex Flow accumulator operates on the concept of an expandable travel path which automatically changes length to match fluctuations in production.

The Side Load model is typically used for lighter-weight products. Depending on the application, both flights can be used for storage. The Dual Flight model is used for heavier products. The amount of accumulation is determined by the flight lengths and the height of the unit.
