Reports To: Director of Purchasing

Summary:

The Buyer position supports the plant by identifying and procuring goods and services needed to support manufacturing Nercon conveyor.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Analyzing quotes, negotiating prices and terms with suppliers.
  • Communicate to suppliers regarding quality, resolving issues, and delivery dates.
  • Identify purchasing needs either through system reorder points or project demand related.
  • Manage and update vendor manage inventory suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Coordinate building services and contracts for janitorial, vending supplies, maintenance and other facilities management related duties.
  • Transaction data entry into Nercon ERP.
  • Desire to meet project deadlines by completing purchasing related duties.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with the buying process for a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and across various organization business units.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and work on multiple tasks or projects.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to make things happen.
  • A desire to exceed project, client, and co-worker expectations.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access).
  • Travel:  day trips to Oconto, WI manufacturing plan approximately 1-2 times per month.

Performance Objectives: 

  • On time delivery of product i.e. plant has what they need when they need it.
  • Ability to pivot quickly to meet due dates or other purchasing challenges.

Education and/or Experience: 

Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 3-5 years of experience.  Must have experience in manufacturing environment.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Current driver's license with acceptable driving record as defined in Nercon Employee Handbook.

Physical Requirements:

Minimal level of physical exertion.  Required to sit, reach, operate office equipment, walk, and stand.
