TRENDS in Conveyor Controls Engineering, a Nercon Perspective

February 22, 2012

Conveyor Controls

One of the industry trends on the minds of our Nercon’s customers  is Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE.) From a line integration standpoint, manufacturers are looking to track energy costs, machine down-time and excess capacity. Nercon’s sales and project engineers are seeing a growing need for controls packages to present complex production issues into simple, intuitive and actionable measurements.

Manufacturers are looking more at controls and information structures of individual machines in the packaging line in order to procure a solution that collects data for the entire line. Manufacturers want data that provides overall information for the line as well as data from the production of an individual product line — all for the goal of shaving time and costs from the manufacturing process.

Technology is constantly changing, and depending on technology and user-driven controls needs, trends are also changing.  At Nercon, conveyor controls specialists sit down with experienced conveyor engineers to co-design production lines.  The controls hardware and software is determined by the best fit for application and the needs of the customer.

Comparing conveyor quotes can be like comparing apples and oranges. If you haven’t had an opportunity yet, download our white paper, “Control is a Good Thing.” This editorial provides information about how to analyze controls packages, as well as a segment on conveyor controls trends.
